The BeyeNETWORK and BI-Community are on the lookout for uses of business intelligence software which positively impact an organization. The Vision Award for Business Impact recognizes companies that use technology innovatively to solve business and technical challenges. They want to hear about the software deployments that give the biggest bang for the buck and provide measurable business value to their department, enterprise or industry.
This year, WSE (an i4BIcustomer!) won the BI Vision Award for Business Impact!

WSE – BI 4 the Public?!
“Using a BI-tool as an engine for content generation on a public website is the best way to create a total user experience for different audiences in an easy and flexible way”
– Jef Van der Wee, CIO and advisor business strategy development at the Flemish Department of Work & Social Economy
The Flemish Department Work & Social Economy (WSE) is responsible for policy making, policy evaluation of the Flemish labour market and the follow up of different government measures in the field of work & social economy. It is a rather small specialised team of highly skilled people who deliver state of the art answers to the responsible Flemish ministers.
As numbers are a base ingredient of policy making, evaluation and monitoring, it is important all analyses exposed through a public website are up-to-date and correct. With their previous website figures had to be calculated, copied over and published which involved several manual steps. Nowadays, with the integration of Oracle Business Intelligence, all figures presented in several ways are updated automatically. This results not only in a higher level of data quality (eliminating manual processes/mistakes), but also provide them the possibility to expose figures in the format which suits best for any specific type of analysis.
Based on the location within the website, the level of detail and functionality can defer. At entry-pages where a broad audience is looking for information, figures are presented in a very easy-to-use, easy-to-understand format (for e.g. a geographical map). When diving into more details, the user will experience more interaction and analyses capabilities. At the lowest detail, complete slice & dice, drag & drop, drill-through, drill-down functionality is provided.
As the solution is created for the public, it can easily be accessed via www.werk.be.
i4BI as Solution Implementor!
As solution implementor, i4BIhas strongly contributed towards guiding the project to a success. In both data warehousing and front-end solutions, i4BIsolutioned and delivered technical designs, implementation, deployment and support. A joint decision with the WSE-team was made to benefit from the latest Oracle Business Intelligence features, such as geospatial integration and dynamic dashboarding.
i4BI has proven expertise in Oracle Data Warehousing and Oracle BI EE, resulting in delivery above expectations. A future-proof and extendible platform was created, allowing WSE to take on any future challenges from the current solid base solution. Benefiting from the inexhaustive library of standards, templates and documentation provided by i4BI as leverage, end users were empowered to take ownership of the report and dashboard creation. This eliminated a substantial portion of the needed support, with the ability to fall back on i4BI’s experts only if really needed..
